Join our team as a NetDevOps Engineer (Hybrid – Porto)!

What You’ll Do:

• Design and implement end-to-end automation workflows for network and security use cases, translating manual operational processes into scalable and reliable solutions;
• Drive the automation of firewall policy management across FortiGate and Check Point environments, from request intake (Jira/API) to configuration deployment and validation;
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and Python scripts to automate network infrastructure, ensuring consistency, idempotency, and integration with CI/CD pipelines;
• Collaborate closely with network and security architects to convert infrastructure requirements into automation-ready specifications;
• Operate autonomously in designing, testing, and validating automation outputs, ensuring production-grade quality without dependency on external validation;
• Enhance and scale the internal automation framework (VLAB), integrating new use cases and improving existing workflows;
• Leverage GitLab for version control, code reviews, and CI/CD pipeline management, ensuring high code quality and governance standards;
• Contribute to the adoption of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and participate in the evolution of automation capabilities, including MCP server integrations;
• Produce clear and structured technical documentation and support knowledge transfer across teams.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in network and/or security engineering, with strong hands-on exposure to routing, switching, and firewall technologies in enterprise environments.
• Proven expertise in Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiOS CLI, REST API) and/or Check Point (SmartCenter API, Cpshell), including firewall configuration and policy management.
• Strong practical experience with Ansible for network automation, including playbook development, Jinja2 templating, and integration into CI/CD workflows.
• Proficiency in Python scripting for infrastructure automation and REST API integrations (JSON/XML, authentication, error handling).
• Solid experience with GitLab, including version control, branching strategies, merge requests, and CI/CD pipeline management.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles, automation design patterns, and enterprise workflow orchestration.
• Experience working with IPAM/CMDB tools such as NetBox or similar solutions.
• Good knowledge of Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS), including CLI usage and Bash scripting.
• Familiarity with automation frameworks such as Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) is a plus.
• Exposure to containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and AI-assisted development tools is considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical mindset, autonomy, and ability to operate in complex, high-availability environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• English proficiency at a professional level (minimum B2).
• Living in Portugal and available to work in a hybrid model.
