Join our team as a Data Steward (Hybrid – Porto)!
What You’ll Do:
- Document domain data assets accurately in the enterprise data catalog
- Manage metadata processes, including business glossary terms, data lineage, and definitions
- Maintain data lineage, tracking user interactions and transformations across applications
- Identify and implement automation to keep governance tools and metadata aligned with evolving data flows
- Update and maintain business terms within the metadata management tool
- Support classification and tagging of sensitive or critical data, and identify related repositories
- Monitor key data quality indicators (DQIs) and collaborate with business and IT teams to resolve issues
- Define and enforce data standards, business rules, and validation checks in partnership with stakeholders
- Act as the main point of contact for data governance activities within the domain
- Collaborate closely with data governance leads, business data owners, SMEs, business analysts, and IT teams
- Promote data literacy and governance awareness across domain teams
- Gather stakeholder requirements, ensure prioritization, and maintain a delivery roadmap
- Perform operational governance activities such as daily catalog maintenance, glossary management, and lineage documentation
- Synchronize proprietary data dictionaries with catalog platforms
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and/or JavaScript
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in data management, business analysis, or a similar role
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and metadata management
- Experience working with data governance tools (data catalogs, data quality, or observability platforms)
- Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, or similar scripting languages for automation
- Basic knowledge of Git (branches, GitHub, or GitLab)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across business and technical stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work within established governance frameworks and operational processes
- Willingness to learn quickly with a continuous improvement mindset
