Linux System Administrator

Join our team as a Linux System Administrator (Hybrid – Porto, Lisbon)!

What You’ll Do:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers (physical and virtual).
  • Administer Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Debian).
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure optimal operation.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and security policies.
  • Perform system upgrades, patch management, and operating system maintenance.
  • Configure and maintain networking services, including DNS, DHCP, SSH, NFS, and VPNs.
  • Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
  • Manage storage solutions, file systems, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Configure and maintain web servers, application servers, and database servers where required.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and operating system issues.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Support virtualization and cloud environments (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Manage configuration management and infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform).
  • Ensure system security by implementing hardening, vulnerability remediation, and access controls.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, development, networking, and security teams to support infrastructure projects.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system architecture diagrams.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and on-call support when required.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years (Mid) or 5+ years (Senior) of Linux system administration experience.
  • Strong experience administering Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu, CentOS, Rocky Linux, or Debian.
  • Solid understanding of Linux system architecture, kernel, processes, services, and package management.
  • Experience with Bash scripting; Python is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios, ELK, Splunk).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of security best practices, system hardening, identity management, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Linux certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, or CompTIA Linux+ are considered an advantage.
  • Professional English proficiency (minimum B2).
  • Based in Portugal and available to work in a hybrid model
